5 Things You Can Do Today To Destress

5 things you can do today to destress:

  1. Make your bed
I always feel better when I’ve made the bed in the morning, do you? Sometimes that’s all I manage to do in a day, especially since the pups arrived, but that’s fine. It can really make your entire room look tidy and organised, even if it’s not.

I always make the children’s beds too. I find that I can often deal with the ‘mess’ of their toys as they play when their beds are made.

  2. Get out in nature
I am really looking forward to getting out and exploring new places with the dogs when Izzy is up to it again. It’s one of my favourite things to do. Even more so when there’s coffee and snacks!

We’re lucky to live in Yorkshire which is surrounded by beautiful scenic places to visit. I think this is one of the things that has affected me so much while living in lockdown for the last year, the lack of being able to get outside and explore nature.

Don’t get me wrong, our little village is beautiful, but there’s only so many times you walk the same path before you need something new.

  3. Organise and declutter something (a drawer, your inbox or a kitchen cupboard)
Yesterday I cleaned out the crisp box. A simple task that took me all of 3 minutes. You would not believe the amount of crisps that were out of date!

Usually, when we go shopping we will stock up on our favourite crisps, but since I cleaned out the box, I realised there were plenty still in there! So that saved us a little money on our food shop this week. I feel much better knowing that little task is done.

  4. Take a break from social media
I’m trying to get better at taking a break from social media, but I LOVE Instagram. I’m getting better at not aimlessly scrolling though.

I find social media a really nice place to be for me, although I know it’s not for a lot of people. It’s inspiring and I have so many WONDERFUL online friends that I chat to every day.

I often go through my following list and unfollow anyone who I’m not enjoying anymore. I think it’s important to have your social media be a nice place to be. Have a go at unfollowing those who annoy you, or you’re bored of. Make your socials a happy place to be.

  5. Listen to your favourite playlist or podcast
I have a playlist I listen to most days on Spotify. I absolutely love it, I could share it with you if that’s something you’d like? It’s full of calming and relaxing music, and it’s perfect to listen to while I work.

I’ve also been listening to the Mr & Mrs Hinch podcast lately. Have you listened to it? It’s amazing and so funny.

I also listen to a lot of educational podcasts too because I love learning. I find podcasts so easy to listen to while I work, walk the dog or clean the house. I’d love to know your favourite playlists and podcasts, let me know in the comments.
